Have you been out of the workforce for a while and not sure how to get back in?  Would you like assistance with improving your confidence, job-search and interview techniques, training and on-the-job work experience?

SKILLING QUEENSLANDERS FOR WORK

The Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders For Work initiative provides customise employment and training assistance to people experiencing substantial barriers to joining the workforce. Furthermore, it assists to meet identified skill shortages within the Queensland labour market.

Through this program, Community Solutions provides targeted, individualised assistance to the long-term unemployed, in an effort to meet the demands of various growth industries. With direct links to industry, Skilling Queenslanders For Work offers participants training across a range of streams before connecting them with work placement opportunities.

Work placements – Up to 16 weeks of paid work experience for eligible participants.

Accredited training – Available in the industry streams of Aged Care, Disability Services, Retail, Business and Civil Construction.

Job preparation – One on one support with the writing of resumes, addressing of Selection Criteria and sourcing of work opportunities within the local community.

PRODUCTIVITY PLACES PROGRAM

Through the provision of full training qualifications, the federal government funded Productivity Places Program directly addresses current skills shortages in the national workforce.

PPP provides full certificate qualifications for the unemployed and existing workers without recognised accreditation.

The program is part of the Australian Government’s Skilling Australia for the Future policy, and is jointly managed in Queensland by the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation. It is hoped the program will help to ensure that 60% or Australians secure a Certificate II or higher.

Community Solutions deliver PPP places in the following industries:

•    Aged/Disability Care
•    Business
•    Retail

The Productivity Places Program (PPP) it is part of the Australian Government’s Skilling Australia for the Future policy of the joint Australian, State and Territory Governments initiative to provide 701,000 additional training places for existing workers and job seekers. Of these, 46,000 are for eligible jobseekers in Queensland and 102,000 will be for Queenslanders existing workers to improve their qualifications. A component administered under the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation ‘Skilling Queenslanders for Work’ initiative is to assist job seekers gain a full Certificate II or III level qualification in an identified priority area.
