Pioneer Valley

The Pioneer Valley has three great assets - an abundance of sunshine, abundance of water and over 5,500 friendly people. It is a mainly rural area and includes seven small townships covering 328,000 hectares. The Pioneer Valley is just half an hour's drive west of Mackay and encompasses the Eungella Range, world famous for its Platypus and National Parks.

Sugar has been the major industry for nearly 120 years and will continue to be, as the industry is effectively addressing long-term viability. Other industries include dairy farming, mango processing, horticulture, cattle and the flourishing tourism industry

.The Pioneer Valley is proud of its natural and man-made assets which encompass the Eungella and Finch Hatton Gorge National Parks, Mount Dalrymple - the third highest peak in Queensland, the Pioneer River and its tributaries, three recreational dams, parks and gardens, heritage buildings, a museum, library, swimming pool and sporting and recreation facilities.
