Isaac West

Isaac west shares the old and new phenomenon with its eastern and northern neighbours. The west includes the larger towns of Clermont and Moranbah and the smaller Mistake Creek and Kilcummin communities. Clermont is considered to be one of Queensland's oldest towns with Ludwig Leichhardt trekking through the area in 1845.

Clermont quickly grew with the discovery of gold and copper and the development of the agricultural industry. Moranbah, on the other hand, is considered the "new kid on the block". Another of Isaac's purpose built towns it has grown into a vibrant and exciting regional centre from its inception in 1971. Mistake Creek and Kilcummin in the west thrive on the agricultural and mining industries. A drive through the country side will provide the adventurer with colourful crops of sorghum, wheat and cotton. This mixed with grazing cattle and the ancient lava plugs form a marvellous scenic backdrop: one not to be missed.
